STATEMENT:

As I reflect upon my journey as an artist, there are two points that stand out. First, was the moment that creating became as necessary as breathing. Second, was when I learned to peel back the layers of self, allowing creativity to flow freely. These are the cornerstones of my artistic foundation.
My inspiration comes equally from an introspective element and from passion. This same tension is reflected in our daily existence by the simplicity and complexity of being. In my work I strive to balance this tension. The human element and presence are vital to my paintings. I prefer strong forms reduced to symbols, vibrant color, and pronounced textures. I need to create beautiful paintings, not simply in terms of proportion, style, or elegance; rather in terms of energy, power, and a visceral connection
