Olivier Widmaier-Picasso: These canvases belonged to my mother. For some, we had seen them in exhibitions, sometimes at home and others had been sleeping in a chest for more than forty years. It is a canvas that has several meanings. That's when my grandfather painted a lot of very colorful paintings of my mother, but this one is black and white. I think that behind the image of this child, who could be my mother because that's the model he has in front of him, he reveals a turning point. We are in the middle of the Spanish Civil War, there is the rise of fascisms and I think that this child who is eating a lollipop, who is in a sort of innocence, is hiding under a chair because perhaps the future does not will not be so beautiful and will not be in color.
Do you have any idea of ​​the value of these paintings?
They are worth a lot of money. We are in a proportionality of art for art. On one side a donation to children, on the other a donation which is a proportion of this whole. That's a lot, and even more.
