Pixel Art, really Art?

Since the invention of the computer itself, or perhaps even earlier, pixel art has existed. wholly why? The word "pixel," or "px," seemed to denote the picture elements, or the components of an image, for the simple reason that it appeared to do so. The pixel is a tiny square that is connected to other tiny squares to create a 2D digital image. I won't linger on it because I believe you all are aware of that. Then, we think that the mosaic, which was utilized many years ago, is the primary source of inspiration for this masterpiece. These charming small terracotta tiles were already a very subtle work of art at the time. Anyone can use it in many ways because it has evolved into a form of art in and of itself.

Modern art that uses pixels

Because of this, individuals like you and I were familiar with how to experiment with the various possibilities provided by these new platforms from the very beginning of the computer's existence. Later, in the 1970s, video game systems made their debut along with ultra-pixelated games. I still recall playing a kind of tennis game on a yellow console with my sister and brother. There was a black background, a white line in the vertical middle, and two tiny white lines far apart on either side (used as tennis rackets). This game's setting was VERY basic. Since then, pixel art has undoubtedly advanced significantly.

Both Pacman and Space Invaders are popular games. The color pallet expanded from two fundamental hues to 16 shades in the 1980s and 512 hues in the 1990s. Thus, there are millions of colors in the 2000s.

Development of the Pixel

Of course, pixel art was just getting started at that point. In fact, the first graphic designers started to appear in 1980, and these creators, these "pixel-pushers," "pushed" these tiny squares to manually combine them into an image, a character, or a scene for a video game. We no longer or hardly ever utilize this technique now because we've switched to voxels, which are pixels in 3D. Modern games that employ them, like Minecraft, manage to keep us enthralled for hours despite having "poor graphics."

This has nothing to do with more graphically demanding games like Black Desert Online or, more recently, Call of Duty Black OPS III. It's heavily influenced by anti-aliasing and texture smoothing.

It is nearly impossible to distinguish fact from fiction today due to the rapid advancement of technology. But a lot of artists stick to the fundamentals and pixelate their paintings, whether on a computer or in another format. Pixel art is once again in style!

Pixel art's democratization

Currently, pixel art has attained democratization and is recognized as a legitimate "art" form. It's present everywhere, including in Minecraft computer games, art exhibits, and public spaces.

Minecraft Pixel art is easily available and reasonably priced. Unlike oil painting or coloring books, this art is not difficult to begin because all you need is a simple sheet with tiny squares. Of course, each person uses a different approach. Therefore, everything may be used as a support, whether it be with a sheet, small tiles to cut out and paint, or computer pixel art! or even a raw substance.

Who can forget the post-it notes that were collectively adhered to office windows a few years ago to resemble, say, a video game character? I recall once attending a Plantu conference on the grounds of the newspaper Le Monde, and as I was admiring them, I spotted a character on a post-it note! This post-it fight erupted throughout the entire office! For our enjoyment of seeing!

A number of artists have established themselves, including street art pioneer Invader. Only the artist's birthdate (1969) is known, and he describes himself as an unnamed living artist. And inundate cities with these adorable, colorful aliens! His adorable pixel art can be found next to street signs because everyone is staring at the street names.

Of course, a lot more people have emerged, and the streets are decorated with their creations! For instance, a street artist in the Woup exhibits high moral standards and respects both the natural world and its cultural landmarks. In the Woup transports us back to our crazed geek adolescence while it is on display at the 2019 Fresh Painting Street-Art Festival hosted by Cart1. He frequently sends us pixel art versions of our beloved characters, like Mario, Zelda, and Dragon Ball characters.

This Lyon-based artist provides us with vibrant, entirely pixelated artwork that is, in particular, inspired by video games. The Earth was covered with these little frescoes. They can be found in Kyrgyzstan, Russia, or Quebec, as well as Lyon.
