She buys a mirror for €150 - $ 180 at a garage sale, it is actually a treasure worth a fortune… More than €120,000 $ 150,000

By presenting her mirror initially purchased for €150, this young woman did not expect the auction to soar and break all records in the show "Affaire conclue" hosted by Sophie Davant. This is a rare creation signed by the French artist Line Vautrin.

This is a sale that beats all records! This Tuesday, June 8, France 2 broadcasts in prime time a special issue of the program Affaire conclue . For the occasion, Sophie Davant , her experts, and art dealers meet at the Air and Space Museum to analyze the objects submitted. The show is then marked by a mirror that arouses much desire and whose price flies away in just a few seconds.

A young woman named Coralie explains that she found the object in a house sale three years earlier. Bought for €150, this mirror is distinguished by a reflective sphere enhanced with small branches adorned with pieces of glass. In good general condition, the mirror is very rare. It is actually the "Étincelle" model by Line Vautrin. Damien Tisson, a regular buyer of the show, explains that he has never seen this copy in the past. It highlights the technicality with which the object is shaped.

"I hope it will spark some sparks with you," says Coralie, who doesn't expect the auction to be quite simply explosive.

The buyer is Benoît Charraudeau, a collector and art dealer specializing in Line Vautrin. Starting price ? €500! The numbers fly away very quickly. The deal is concluded at €127,000.

The mystical art Line Vautrin

French artist, Line Vautrin is also a designer of jewelry and decorative objects. It is completely self-taught that she begins to manufacture her first bronze objects. Her father nevertheless owns a foundry workshop in which he makes ornamental parts for doors and furniture.

Its success dates back to 1937 during the Universal Exhibition where it held a stand and made itself known. In 1950, Line Vautrin herself developed an innovative material, Talosel, cellulose acetate derivative. The name Talosel is also built around certain syllables of the word: ELaboré celluLOSe acetate.

From then on, the material is at the center of her creations and allows her to give life without limit to her imagination. "This discovery will allow her to transcribe her fantasies and her poetry in all her creations, particularly the delicately crafted "Sorcières" mirrors," told the buyer.

Although the Talosel can be declined in several colors, Line Vautrin prefers to rely on classic shades to shape its decorative creations.

Her touch, recognizable among all, is carried by her pleasure to shake up the codes. The Line-Vautrin.fr website details: "Her facetious and playful mood, we find it in particular in the puzzles that dot her works". She enjoys "cutting out poems and old proverbs, mixing signs and symbols, to write them on the minimal space of a clipboard or the lid of a box. »

"The worker made the signature after receiving Line Vautrin's approval. She sometimes had a small copper pellet embedded in it with the inscription "King" if it was a mirror or "Joux" if it was a piece of jewelry. »

Suppose some of her creations are not signed. In that case, they are distinguished by one aspect: "Talosel does not resist temperature changes well, and an object whose Talosel does not show any sign of drying out is unlikely to be an authentic Line Vautrin... »
